The First Visit - Your initial appointment is a time that we get to know you and understand your needs and desires for your health and smile. The doctors will spend time examining all facets of your dental health and adapt a treatment plan that fits your specific personality and needs. Many times a second treatment consultation is needed for more complex cases. Following the initial examination with the doctor you will most likely be appointed with the dental hygienist. Occasionally the hygienist must clean your teeth prior to the examination.
When should my child first go to the dentist? We believe that a childs first visit to the dental office should be close to the age of 12 to 18 months. However, we strongly advise the creation of a "dental home" soon after a child is born, during the infancy period. Any new parent, expecting parent, or parent/caregiver who is unsure of how to establish a dental home and best prevent cavities and developmental problems for their little ones should schedule an appointment immediately. Prevention is the key, and can save your child countless hours in the dental chair.
